Poker is a game of chance in which players are dealt cards one at a time. Each player has a chance to make a bet that will increase the pot. The highest hand wins the pot.
Poker is played with a standard pack of 52 cards. The individual cards are ranked from Ace to Ace. This ranking is used to determine the best hand.
A pair is two cards of equal rank. If there are more pairs of equal rank, the second highest pair wins.
A flush is five cards of the same suit. If the second highest card is higher than the fourth, the flush wins.
Poker is played with a minimum of six to eight players. Players use different hands when aggressive and passive. Some games require players to contribute to the pot before the deal.
Betting is done in a clockwise direction. After the first three rounds of betting, a player must bet or raise to stay in the hand.
A player can also bluff by making a bet that they have the best hand. A poker game may use Wild Cards. These cards can be any suit.
The player who is in the middle of the table is called the active player. They can bet, raise or check. However, a player who folds is said to have dropped. Once a player folds, they lose their chance to compete for the pot.
The player to the left of the dealer has the big blind. He can check, raise or drop.
